Overview
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure the efficient production of high-quality precision components and assemblies. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement within a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop, implement, and manage production schedules to meet customer demands while maximizing efficiency and minimizing downtime.
- Team Leadership: Lead, train, and motivate a multidisciplinary production team, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all products meet strict precision engineering standards and customer specifications through rigorous quality control and continuous process monitoring.
- Process Optimization: Identify areas for process improvement, implement lean manufacturing principles, and utilize Six Sigma or similar methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and maintenance of machinery, tools, and materials required for production, ensuring optimal utilization and minimal downtime.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing company and regulatory safety policies and procedures.
- Budget & Cost Control: Manage production budgets, monitor costs, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality or delivery timelines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, quality, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure seamless operations and timely delivery of products.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, KPIs, and improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a production management role within the Precision Engineering sector.
- Proven track record of implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining, CAD/CAM software, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
