Marine Safety & Operations
1. Regulatory & Operational Management
- Ensure vessel operations comply with international regulations
- Monitor safety including navigational safety, and mooring practices.
- Oversee safe cargo operations, including tank cleaning and commercial readiness of the vessel
2. Inspection & Performance Oversight
- Conduct ship inspections, and attend vessels in dry dock.
- Conduct risk assessments for new ports/terminals in coordination with vessel and ship managers, and audit ship managers for compliance.
- Coordinating vessel inspection schedule including vetting inspections, and port state control results, ensuring timely resolution of deficiencies.
3. Safety & Emergency Response
- Support ship managers in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Coordinate and participate in drills, safety campaigns, and shipboard training.
- Provide training and guidance on marine safety procedures.
- Assistance with the Leader of Department and stakeholders during fleet emergencies.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders on upholding the company's safety standards and policies.
4. Reporting, Analysis & Communication
- Summarize KPI and HSEQ analysis
- Creating company memos, safety alerts, and circular issued by Marine Department, and promulgate to ship manager
5. Documentation & Administrative Support
- Documentation work such as preparation of application for approval, draft monthly department report and take minutes of Marine related meeting.
- Arrangement of on-board rainer schedules in discussion with Leader of Marine
- Coordinating vessel inspection schedule
- Brief and debrief senior officers in the fleet
- Data input work (Port Captain attendance and observation report)
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations, chemical cargo operations, and tanker industry standards.
- Minimum 2 years seafaring experience as Senior officer on board Chemical Tankers
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in marine safety or operations in the tanker shipping industry.
- Shore-based experience in Marine, HSSEQ, or Marine Safety & Operations roles.
- Preferable working knowledge of Tanker Management & Self-Assessment (TMSA).
- Effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Preferably a Master Mariner Unlimited CoC (Class1), Marine Engineering, Safety Management, or related field.
