Job Description & Requirement
Our client is a Japanese leading global Private Equity firm managing buyout funds currently hiring a Managing Director, Private Equity in Singapore due to sustained growth within the firm.
Responsibilities
Investment Leadership
. Lead end-to-end investment lifecycle including origination, evaluation, structuring, negotiation, execution, and exit of private equity transactions
. Develop and articulate clear investment theses aligned with the firm's global strategy
. Oversee financial modelling, due diligence processes, valuation analysis, and transaction negotiations
Portfolio Oversight
. Exercise shareholder governance and conduct board supervision over the senior management team of the portfolio companies.
. Work closely with portfolio company management teams to support strategic developments, operational improvements, and sustainable growth initiatives
. Monitor financial and operational performance of portfolio companies
. Provide periodic reporting to the Investment Committee
Strategic & Organizational Leadership
. Actively contribute to discussions on deal development processes and post-acquisition management initiatives across all deals undertaken by the regional team
. Oversee and mentor the Singapore-based buyout team
. Maintain close alignment with Japan's office on investment strategy, risk management, and reporting standards
. Ensure adherence to the firm's governance framework and compliance requirements
Relationship Management
. Develop and maintain relationships with business partners, intermediaries, and industry stakeholders in the region
. Represent the firm professionally in market engagements and meetings
Requirement
. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or related discipline
. Approximately 15+ years or more of relevant experience in private equity, principal investment, or investment banking, with substantial buyout exposure, and a proven track record of delivering successful investment outcomes and value creation
. Demonstrated experience leading transactions and managing investment teams
. Strong financial analysis, valuation, and negotiation capabilities
. Sound judgment, integrity, and a disciplined approach to investment decision-making
. Ability to operate effectively within a structured, consensus-driven environment
. Business-level proficiency in Japanese is essential to liaise with Japan's office and Japan-based stakeholders
. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
