Our client is a leading private equity investment firm focused on control and significant minority investments in high-quality companies across pan-Asia. The firm partners with founders, families, and corporate carve-outs to accelerate growth, professionalize operations, and create long-term value.
We are seeking a Managing Director to lead deal origination, execution, and portfolio value creation across Southeast Asia. The role will involve sourcing proprietary transactions, leading complex buyout investments, working closely with management teams to drive operational improvements, and contributing to overall fund strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Origination & Deal Sourcing
- Source and originate control and buyout investment opportunities across Southeast Asia.
- Develop deep relationships with founders, family businesses, corporates, investment banks, and advisors to generate strong deal flow.
- Identify and pursue proprietary transactions, including founder-led succession situations, corporate carve-outs, and growth-to-buyout opportunities.
- Evaluate and participate in competitive auction processes and open tenders led by investment banks and financial advisors.
- Lead the firm's positioning and bidding strategy in competitive processes, including preparation of non-binding offers (NBOs), binding bids, and final negotiations.
- Develop sector theses and proactively target companies aligned with the firm's investment strategy.
Deal Execution
- Lead all aspects of transaction execution
- Manage advisors including investment banks, consultants, lawyers, and diligence providers
Portfolio Management & Value Creation
- Participate in portfolio company boards and provide strategic guidance across (1) Operational improvement, (2) Growth strategy, (3) M&A and bolt-on acquisitions, (4) Professionalization of governance and management
- Oversee exit strategies including strategic sales, secondary buyouts, and IPOs
Preferred Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in private equity with significant buyout transaction experience
- Proven track record of leading investments from sourcing through exit
- Deep familiarity with Southeast Asia markets
- Experience working with founders, family controlled businesses, and management teams
