Job Summary
The Managing Director (MD) is the most senior executive responsible for Mediatropy's overall business performance, strategic direction, and long-term sustainability. This role oversees commercial growth, operational excellence, leadership effectiveness, and culture-building across markets. The MD works closely with the leadership team and key stakeholders to ensure the agency achieves its financial, people, and brand objectives. The MD is both a strategic leader and an operator-setting vision while staying close to execution.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute Mediatropy's vision, strategy, and long-term roadmap to drive sustainable business growth and innovation
- Translate business strategy into clear annual and quarterly goals across departments to ensure aligned execution
- Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, service offerings, partnerships, and revenue streams to expand business reach
- Monitor industry trends to maintain Mediatropy's competitive edge and foster continuous innovation
- Own the Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility and manage the overall financial health of the business to ensure profitability and sustainability
- Drive revenue growth and implement cost management strategies to optimize financial performance
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in collaboration with Finance to support strategic objectives
- Develop and oversee pricing strategies, client contracts, and commercial terms to secure sound business agreements
- Manage financial risks and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements to safeguard the company
- Represent Mediatropy as the senior executive with key clients, partners, and stakeholders to build and sustain strong relationships
- Lead major pitches, negotiations, and high-stakes client engagements to secure business and enhance client satisfaction
- Ensure high delivery standards across accounts to maintain client retention and satisfaction
- Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing leadership team across departments and markets to drive organizational success
- Shape and promote a people-first, inclusive, and high-performance culture aligned with Mediatropy's values and ways of working
- Collaborate with HR/People teams on workforce planning, leadership development, succession planning, and performance management to strengthen talent pipelines
- Ensure leadership accountability, alignment, and capability to deliver results effectively
- Oversee agency operations to enhance efficiency, scalability, and quality of delivery across teams
- Establish clear organizational structures, processes, and governance to support disciplined yet agile growth
- Resolve cross-functional challenges and remove barriers to execution to maintain operational excellence
- Report to the Board, Founders, and Shareholders on business performance, strategy, and risk management to ensure transparency and alignment
- Uphold strong corporate governance, risk management, and compliance practices to protect business interests
- Align internal leadership decisions with shareholder expectations and long-term business goals to sustain organizational health
Required competencies and certifications
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role (Managing Director, General Manager, CEO, or equivalent), preferably within a digital agency, media, marketing, or professional services environment
- Strong commercial acumen with full P&L ownership experience
- Demonstrated success in scaling teams, revenue, and operations
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary and/or multi-market teams
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, media, and agency business models
- Strategic and commercial mindset to drive business growth and innovation
- Decisive, calm, and credible leadership to guide teams and stakeholders through complex challenges
- Strong people leadership and emotional intelligence to inspire and develop high-performing teams
