Job Title: Junior Data Engineer

Location: Singapore

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Data Engineer to join our growing data team in Singapore. As a Junior Data Engineer, you will support the development and maintenance of data pipelines, data warehouses, and other data infrastructure. You'll work closely with senior engineers and data scientists to ensure that data is clean, accessible, and ready for analysis. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in building, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines to support business analytics and data science needs.
  • Develop and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for integrating data from various sources into data storage systems.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and other engineering teams to ensure data is accessible and reliable.
  • Write clean, efficient code to automate and streamline data processing tasks.
  • Assist with data quality checks and ensure that the data is accurate, consistent, and timely.
  • Help manage cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
  • Participate in troubleshooting and debugging of data pipeline issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Support the design and implementation of data storage solutions (data lakes, data warehouses).
  • Work on optimizing database queries for performance and scalability.
  • Continuously learn about new tools, technologies, and best practices in data engineering.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling concepts.
  • Familiarity with data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop) and ETL tools (e.g., Airflow, Talend).
  • Basic programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure) and cloud storage solutions.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and architecture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn and grow in data engineering.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Preferred:
  • Experience working with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, or similar).
  • Exposure to containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) or data processing tools (e.g., Pandas).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Any experience in data engineering internships, personal projects, or open-source contributions.
