Position Overview:
As a Junior Data Engineer at ZAGAS, you will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines that process and manage large datasets. You will collaborate with data engineers and other technical teams to ensure that our data infrastructure supports the growing needs of the business. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines that efficiently collect, process, and store data from various sources.
- Work closely with senior data engineers to design and optimize scalable data architectures.
- Develop scripts and automation for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to ensure clean, structured data is available for analysis.
- Ensure data quality by performing regular data validation and troubleshooting data pipeline issues.
- Help maintain and monitor data workflows to ensure data is accurate, timely, and accessible.
- Support the integration of data systems and ensure seamless data flow across different platforms.
- Document data engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Continuously learn and stay up-to-date with new data engineering technologies and best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, or related roles (fresh graduates are welcome to apply).
- Basic knowledge of programming languages like Python, Java, or SQL.
- Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Understanding of ETL processes and data integration.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-native data tools is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with large datasets.
- Familiarity with Big Data tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka is a plus.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have:
- Exposure to data warehousing concepts and tools (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake).
- Experience with data orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or similar.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is an advantage.
- Understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance best practices.
