Our client, a global player in the commodities sector is seeking an Internal Control Analyst. This role sits at the heart of the business's trading and risk environment, providing independent assurance across physical and derivatives trading activities, as well as key operational and financial workflows. It is a high‑visibility position that works closely with trading, risk, finance, operations, and senior management, making it an excellent platform for someone who wants to deepen their exposure within an international trading environment.
The Internal Control Analyst will be responsible for executing risk‑based reviews across front‑, middle‑ and back‑office processes. This includes evaluating the design and effectiveness of internal controls related to trade capture, contract management, logistics, derivatives hedging and daily P&L reporting. The role also covers assessing policy compliance, delegated authorities, exposure management practices and segregation of duties across the trading lifecycle. A key mandate of this position is to proactively identify control gaps, highlight potential sources of operational and financial risk and recommend improvements that strengthen the governance framework.
A significant element of the role involves supporting the organisation's readiness for statutory audit. The successful candidate will review documentation, accounting treatments and control processes to ensure they align with external audit expectations, helping to minimise audit findings and drive cleaner audit outcomes. The individual will also investigate fraud‑related risk areas such as payment authorisations, bank detail amendments, overrides and exception handling.
The ideal candidate holds a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline, ideally supported by a professional qualification such as CA, CPA, or ACCA. The organisation is seeking someone with approximately five or more years of experience in internal audit, external audit or risk assurance. Prior exposure to a commodity trading company is strongly preferred, along with a solid understanding of physical commodity flows, derivatives, hedging strategies and key risk areas including credit, counterparty, and currency. The candidate will bring an independent mindset, strong professional judgement, a high level of attention to detail and the ability to challenge stakeholders constructively while maintaining strong working relationships across the organisation.
