Job Description

HR Business Partner - Japan

Industry: FMCG / Consumer Goods / Manufacturing
Global MNC is looking for new talent as part of business expansion - this is a newly created role.

As the HR Business Partner for Japan, you will play a key role in supporting business growth from the HR perspective. Working closely with both management and business teams, you will lead recruitment, employee relations, and organizational development initiatives while strengthening the overall HR function.

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Employee Relations

  • Develop and strengthen HR policies and operations in line with Japanese labor law
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding
  • Handle labor relations matters and ensure compliance with internal policies and legal requirements
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives and workplace improvement programs

Recruitment & Workforce Planning

  • Lead mid-career hiring processes from sourcing to onboarding
  • Work closely with business leaders to identify hiring needs and workforce planning
  • Utilize recruitment agencies, direct sourcing, and other hiring channels effectively

Organization Development & Employee Relations

  • Provide HR advice and support to managers and employees
  • Support performance management and employee development initiatives
  • Identify organizational challenges and implement improvement plans
  • Promote a healthy and productive working environment

HR Function Enhancement

  • Support and develop the HR team
  • Improve HR processes and update people-related policies and initiatives

Requirements

MUST

  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience, including HRBP experience within FMCG or related industries
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas: recruitment, labor relations, or performance management
  • Strong recruitment experience is highly important, as hiring will be one of the main responsibilities
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Business-level Japanese and English (required for internal communication)
  • Who obtains Japanese PR or who lives in Japan now with related employment visa.

PREFERRED

Experience in organizational transformation or HR system implementation

Team management experience
