Assist the Manager and Director in the operations of Clinical Coding for WHC to ensure provision of accurate and timely performance of coding, in compliance to MOH's guidelines or requirements
Provide structure, training and guidance to coders preforming the Clinical coding
Perform coding analysis, audits, review and liase with doctors and other healthcare professionals on coding matters.
Provide reports and update to relevant stakeholders when required
Key Responsibilities
Establish the development and improvement of workflows and processes in the Clinical Coding Unit
Establishment of training materials, and provide training to clinical coders in the areas of clinical coding in accordance to Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines
Perform abstraction of complete and accurate, diagnoses and procedures after a thorough review of entire inpatient records and assign appropriate ICD-10- AM Codes
Oversee the coding process and ensure traceability and confidentiality of the cases involved
Communicating effectively with health care professionals to clarify any incomplete or ambiguous documentation
Optimising coding through output and quality coding
Perform periodic verification of bill size with MOH
Perform regular auditing for staff/team to ensure quality of coding standards is upheld
Participating in continuing education and training of new coders
Handle clinical coding enquiries and respond to or follow up when required
Oversee On-the-Job (OJT) programs for new staff by identifying training needs, plan and organise programs and schedules, continuously evaluate and monitor staff progress; initiate reviews/feedback session
Perform relevant administrative functions in the department
Support in the procurement process for the opening of WHC and department
