RESPONSIBILITIES

Role Purpose

To support the English Drama team by delivering high-quality drama and microdrama concepts and scripts aligned with content strategies, audience objectives, and platform requirements.

Scope of the Role

  • Contribute to the creative development of English drama content by shaping scripts, story concepts, and development direction across multiple projects within the English drama and microdrama development slate.
  • Support both local and international co-development and co-production initiatives, ensuring creative alignment with organisational content strategies, audience objectives, and platform requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal content teams, customer group colleagues, and external creative partners, including writers, producers, and overseas collaborators, to support development processes, pitching activities, and concept progression across the English drama development slate.

Job Description

  • Collaborate with writers and producers, to work on drama proposals, scripts, and story concepts across the English drama and microdrama development slate, assessing creative quality, narrative effectiveness to support a sustainable and differentiated content pipeline.
  • Shape and strengthen storylines, character arcs, and narrative structures to enhance dramatic impact, emotional engagement, and audience appeal across multiple projects.
  • Identify and address creative gaps or development risks at both project and slate levels, recommending solutions to improve overall storytelling quality and consistency.
  • Ensure scripts and concepts are creatively robust, distinctive, and appropriate for intended formats, platforms, and target audiences.
  • Contribute to the creative development and evaluation of international co-development and co-production projects, working with internal teams and overseas partners to align storytelling approaches, formats, and creative expectations across markets.
  • Support pitching and brainstorming activities by structuring, facilitating, and consolidating creative inputs across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate concept sharing and development discussions with internal work teams to ensure alignment on creative direction, format, and audience objectives.
  • Contribute to the definition of pitch formats, presentation approaches, and development requirements for drama concepts at a slate level.
  • Identify, evaluate, and engage relevant industry experts and creative partners to support script and concept development outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in related discipline.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in drama development, scripted content creation, or creative production.
  • Good language proficiency. Strong communicator, flair for writing, good research skills.
  • Deep understanding of genre trends, audience insights, and market dynamics to inform creative direction and development strategies
  • Strong interest in consuming a wide range of drama and content genres.
  • Prior experience in creative roles such as writer, director, executive producer, or script development/editorial roles, especially in short form content.
  • Able to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across functions and markets.
