About the Role
We are seeking a commercially driven Legal Counsel to join our legal team in Singapore, supporting rapidly evolving business operations across payments, fintech, and technology products. This role provides strategic yet pragmatic legal advice to business and product teams, enabling growth while managing legal and regulatory risks in a dynamic, technology-led environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, practical legal advice to internal stakeholders on commercial, regulatory, contractual, and operational matters.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Compliance, Risk, Business Development) to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal agreements
- Ensure contractual protections align with business objectives and risk tolerance.
- Advise on regulatory requirements under MAS/PSA (and other regional frameworks where applicable).
- Support regulatory licensing and reporting obligations, and liaise with regulators as necessary.
- Manage relationships with external counsel, including supervising engagements and controlling legal spend.
- Interface with internal senior leadership to advise on strategic initiatives and risk-weighted decisions.
Requirements
- Law degree (LLB / JD) and admitted to practise in Singapore or another common law jurisdiction.
- 5+ years of post-qualification experience, with hands-on exposure in fintech, payments, technology or financial services legal functions (in-house or top-tier law firm).
- Prior in-house experience at a fintech, payments platform, digital bank, or technology company. (preferred)
- Solid understanding of commercial law, regulatory frameworks, and technology/fintech legal issues.
- Experience advising on regulatory requirements (e.g., MAS, PSA, PDPA, AML).
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial and technology contracts.
