Assistant Director / Senior Legal Counsel (Stat Board)
Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned legal professional to join an in-house legal division of a large, complex organisation. The successful candidate will provide legal advice and support across multiple business units and affiliated organisations, covering a broad range of corporate, regulatory, and advisory matters.
This role involves close engagement with senior stakeholders and offers exposure to policy development, governance, and organisation-wide legal initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support across various organisational units on their functions and operations
- Partner with senior management to develop and implement policies, frameworks, and legal actions
- Draft and advise on regulatory instruments, including primary and subsidiary legislation within the organisation's remit
- Interpret and advise on applicable Singapore laws and regulations relevant to the organisation's duties
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents and agreements
- Advise on general corporate and commercial matters, including:
- Tenders and procurement documents
- Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs)
- Tenancy and leasing agreements
- Other commercial and contractual arrangements
- Develop and implement internal legal processes, guidelines, and best practices
- Establish and maintain a repository of legal advice and precedents
- Advise on and manage potentially contentious or sensitive matters
- Instruct, manage, and liaise with external legal counsel
- Undertake ad-hoc projects and assignments as required
Requirements
- Law degree and admission to the Singapore Bar (or another common law jurisdiction)
- Minimum 4 years of post-qualification experience (PQE)
- Background in corporate and contract law is strongly preferred
- Strong analytical, drafting, and problem-solving skills
- Versatile, self-motivated, and able to manage a wide range of legal matters concurrently
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate legal advice clearly and persuasively
