Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on and reliable Senior Desktop Engineer to support and deliver end-user and infrastructure-related projects across desktop, server, backup power, and network environments. The role involves device configuration, patching, deployment, technical refresh, migration, troubleshooting, and operational support for IT systems including servers, UPS, backup solutions, switches, firewalls, NAS, and wireless access points.

The ideal candidate should have strong technical experience in infrastructure deployment and support, with the ability to work independently, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure smooth project execution with minimal disruption to business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, configuration, deployment, and support for IT infrastructure devices and systems.

  • Manage and support servers, UPS, backup systems, switches, firewalls, NAS, and wireless access points.

  • Execute device patching, firmware updates, OS upgrades, and security updates in accordance with maintenance schedules and policies.

  • Support technical refresh, migration, relocation, rollout, and replacement activities for infrastructure and end-user environments.

  • Conduct troubleshooting, fault isolation, and issue resolution for hardware, software, network, and connectivity problems.

  • Assist in system commissioning, testing, and validation to ensure successful deployment and handover.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and health checks for infrastructure devices and network equipment.

  • Coordinate with vendors, project teams, and customers during deployment, maintenance, and support activities.

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, asset records, configuration details, implementation reports, and handover documents.

  • Ensure compliance with security, operational, and change management procedures.

  • Provide onsite and remote support where required.

  • Support after-office hours, weekend work, or standby activities for planned maintenance, migration, or critical incidents when needed.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in desktop/infrastructure support, deployment, or project implementation.

  • Strong hands-on experience with:

    • Servers

    • UPS systems

    • Backup solutions

    • Network switches

    • Firewalls

    • NAS storage

    • Wireless access points

  • Experience in device configuration, deployment, patching, migration, and tech refresh projects.

  • Good understanding of network fundamentals such as TCP/IP, VLAN, DHCP, DNS, routing, and wireless connectivity.

  • Familiarity with infrastructure hardware lifecycle support and replacement planning.

  • Able to read and follow implementation plans, method of procedures, and technical documentation.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication and coordination skills with users, customers, vendors, and internal teams.

  • Able to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Possession of relevant certifications such as CCNA, MCSA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent will be an advantage.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in enterprise IT environment, managed services, or system integration projects.

  • Exposure to firewall and switch configuration from major vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, HP, Dell, or similar.

  • Knowledge of backup software, virtualization, and storage environments is an added advantage.

  • Experience in infrastructure migration, office relocation, or large-scale refresh projects.

  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, incident management, and change control practices.
