Job scope:
- Take responsibility for the welfare and safety of residents by ensuring that all safety policies and procedures are carried out.
- Review residents periodically to assess their progress and to ensure that high quality care has been provided and to ascertain needs for additional care / services.
- Plan, organize, implement, supervise, and evaluate nursing care and services are provided.
- Provide reassurance to residents and family members and attend to their enquiries promptly
- Ensure that residents/ clients complaints are handled expeditiously, and corrective or preventive actions taken effectively and comply with protocol.
- Take corrective and preventive actions where necessary to eliminate or minimize the cause of existing or potential critical quality problems identified.
- Implement, monitor and regular audit on skill competency.
- Ensure that the staff understands and follows these policies and procedures strictly.
- Assist in the research, development and implementation of modern nursing practices that would achieve nursing care of the highest standard.
- Identify training needs and perform with Training department to develop programs tailored to close the gap in providing safe care to the residents.
- Conduct and coordinate orientation, On-the-job Training, dementia care courses, care-giver training and clinical attachment.
- Participate in in-service education programme and carries out post course follow-up to ensure optimum transfer of learning.
- Conduct periodic checks on staff on their learning journal and identify staff learning needs.
- Take charge of the smooth and cost-effective running of the department.
- Ensure that all internal documents are properly controlled and disseminated.
- Audit residents case notes and nursing documentation to ensure that records are up to date and in line with the legal requirements for documentation.
- Attend regular nursing and department meetings that affect policies relating to delivery of health care services.
- In the absence of the Nurse Leader to conduct / attend multidisciplinary meetings to understand resident's medical, psychosocial conditions and disease management including the designing of the care plans.
- Attend appropriate education programs to further develop profession and keep abreast with the latest knowledge, skills, and technical innovations.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Nurse Leader.
- Ensure Roster is up to date. Monthly need to plan roster, to inform if there is a need of manpower.
Requirements:
- Post registration degree in Nursing/Advance Diploma in Gerontology or its equivalent
- Registered Nurse
- Valid practising licence with Singapore Nursing Board
- At least 10 years experience in acute clinical setting with leadership role
