Job Description

About Anyon

Anyon Technologies Pte Ltd (and its affiliate, Anyon Computing) is a cutting-edge quantum computing hardware platform company dedicated to advancing quantum technology from the ground up. Founded by experts from world-leading and pioneering quantum device research groups at Caltech and UC Berkeley, we are at the forefront of developing scalable, hybrid quantum-classical supercomputing systems. Through strategic collaborations with industry leaders such as NVIDIA, we are building the next generation of quantum supercomputers designed to drive transformative applications, including next-gen AI.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly capable Mechanical Engineer to join the design, development, integration, and optimization of critical mechanical subsystems for our quantum computing and cryogenic platforms. This role will focus on the structural and mechanical design of key hardware, including but not limited to dilution refrigerator assemblies, cold-stage structures, packaging, and other precision components operating in low-temperature, vacuum, and electromagnetically sensitive environments.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on engineering capability, be proficient in mechanical design using SolidWorks, and possess a solid understanding of machining processes, tolerances, materials, and assembly practices. Experience with complex system design and practical installation is highly valued. Knowledge of cryogenic engineering is a strong plus.

As a deep-tech company at the forefront of quantum technology, we face demanding engineering challenges that require creativity, precision, and fast execution. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to transform system requirements into robust mechanical solutions, support hardware build and deployment, and continuously improve designs based on testing and operational feedback.

Responsibilities:

. Join the mechanical design and development of critical hardware subsystems for quantum computing and cryogenic platforms

. Take ownership of the structural design of key assemblies, including refrigerator-related hardware and cold-stage mechanical structures

. Participate in system architecture discussions and translate functional requirements into practical mechanical designs

. Design precision components and assemblies for operation in low-temperature, vacuum, and electromagnetically sensitive environments

. Create 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation using SolidWorks

. Define and review dimensions, tolerances, fits, and GD&T to ensure manufacturability, assembly reliability, and system performance

. Select appropriate materials, surface treatments, and fabrication methods according to mechanical, thermal, and environmental requirements

. Work closely with internal teams, external machining vendors, and assembly partners to ensure high-quality fabrication and timely delivery

. Evaluate common machining and fabrication methods, including CNC milling, turning, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and 3D printing, and optimize designs accordingly

. Understand realistic machining precision limits and ensure designs are compatible with cost, yield, and quality targets

. Support component installation, mechanical integration, debugging, and validation during system build and deployment

. Analyze issues found during fabrication, assembly, testing, and field use, and drive design improvements

. Collaborate with cryogenic, electronics, and system engineers to ensure seamless subsystem integration

. Maintain clear and professional engineering documentation in accordance with internal design and revision control processes

Key Qualifications:

. Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline

. Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for part, assembly, and drawing creation

. Able to communicate effectively in Chinese

. Proven experience in designing complex mechanical systems and assemblies

. Practical experience in hardware installation, assembly, or on-site integration is strongly preferred

. Solid understanding of common machining and manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, turning, milling, sheet metal processing, and 3D printing

. Familiarity with machining tolerances, engineering fits, dimensional control, and tolerance annotation

. Good knowledge of common engineering material grades and properties, especially copper, aluminum, and stainless steel

. Experience working with external workshops or suppliers for precision-machined parts

. Strong awareness of producibility, cost control, quality, and reliability in mechanical design

. Ability to write clear technical documentation and communicate effectively across engineering and manufacturing teams

. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced R&D environment

Preferred Qualifications:

. Experience in cryogenic systems, vacuum systems, or low-temperature engineering

. Understanding of the principles of thermal contraction, thermal anchoring, vacuum compatibility, and electromagnetic shielding/isolation

. Experience in the design of mechanical structures used in scientific instruments, semiconductor equipment, precision instruments, or similar advanced hardware systems

. Familiarity with assembly planning, tolerance stack-up analysis, and failure/root-cause investigation

. Hands-on capability with workshop tools, inspection tools, or prototyping equipment

. Experience supporting hardware through the full lifecycle from concept to fabrication, assembly, testing, and iteration
