Job Responsibilities
1. Equipment Design and Selection
- Select, design, and adapt mechanical systems such as:
- Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs)
- Ventilation systems
- Slurry transport systems
- Hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
- Customize equipment based on geological conditions and tunnel specifications.
2. Installation and Commissioning
- Supervise the installation of heavy machinery and auxiliary systems.
- Conduct system testing and ensure proper commissioning.
3. Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose faults and oversee repair work on TBMs, conveyor belts, pumps, etc.
- Ensure minimum downtime and safe operation.
4. Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all mechanical systems meet safety and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with safety officers to implement and maintain safe work practices.
5. Technical Support and Coordination
- Provide on-site mechanical engineering support during construction phases.
- Coordinate with civil engineers, geologists, and project managers.
6. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain records of mechanical performance, maintenance logs, and inspection reports.
- Prepare technical documentation for machinery and equipment.
7. Innovation and Optimization
- Recommend improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance reliability.
- Explore new materials and technologies suitable for underground environments.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
- Master's degree in Tunneling, Mining, or Construction Engineering (preferred for senior roles).
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Familiarity with TBM operations, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
- Understanding of tunnel construction methods: NATM, cut-and-cover, drill-and-blast, and shield tunneling.
Experience
- Entry-level: 0-2 years (may start as mechanical site engineers or assistants).
- Mid-level: 3-7 years with direct tunneling or underground construction experience.
- Senior-level: 8+ years with leadership in large infrastructure/tunnel projects.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Willingness to work in remote or underground locations.
- Adaptability to shifting schedules and environments.
