Managing Director, Singapore - Well Funded AI Tech Company

About the Company

Our client is an AI technology company focused on open-source innovation, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI Agents, and enterprise AI adoption. Backed by an established global platform and ambitious expansion plans, the company is seeking a Managing Director to establish and lead its Singapore operations while driving business growth across Southeast Asia.

This is a rare opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader to play a foundational role in shaping the company's regional strategy, commercial expansion, ecosystem partnerships, and team build-out in one of the fastest-growing sectors in technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Regional Strategy & Business Expansion: Develop and execute the company's Singapore and Southeast Asia growth strategy, identifying market opportunities, expansion priorities, and commercial initiatives to drive sustainable business growth.
• Business Development & Ecosystem Building: Build strategic relationships with enterprise clients, technology partners, government agencies, universities, and industry associations to strengthen the company's position within the regional AI ecosystem.
• Commercial Leadership & Revenue Growth: Drive customer acquisition, partnership development, and go-to-market execution across key sectors including financial services, public sector, healthcare, telecommunications, and enterprise technology.
• Team Build-Out & Leadership: Establish and lead a high-performing regional team across business development, partnerships, operations, and customer success functions, fostering a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture.
• Stakeholder Management: Act as the company's key representative in Singapore and Southeast Asia, engaging senior executives, government stakeholders, investors, and ecosystem partners to enhance market presence and brand recognition.
• Operational Excellence & Governance: Oversee regional operations, compliance, budgeting, resource allocation, and business performance while ensuring alignment with both local regulatory requirements and global corporate objectives.
• Cross-Regional Collaboration: Work closely with global leadership teams to provide market feedback, identify emerging trends, and support the localization of products and solutions for Southeast Asian customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Business, Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. MBA or postgraduate qualifications would be advantageous.
• 10+ years of experience within technology, cloud, software, AI, SaaS, data, or digital transformation industries, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
• Proven track record of building and scaling businesses across Singapore and Southeast Asia, including market entry, team development, and commercial expansion.
• Strong understanding of enterprise technology trends, AI adoption, digital transformation initiatives, and the evolving Southeast Asian technology landscape.
• Established network across enterprise customers, technology partners, government agencies, and industry stakeholders within Singapore and ASEAN.
• Demonstrated experience managing P&L, commercial operations, strategic partnerships, and regional growth initiatives.
• Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
