Manager, Asset Performance & Strategy (Energy)

Role Overview

The Manager, Asset Performance & Strategy acts as the critical bridge between technical asset operations and corporate business strategy. Working closely with the Asset Performance department, this newly created role applies a sharp financial and commercial lens to operational metrics, digitalization efforts, and L2 Assurance activities.

A core component of this role is synthesizing complex technical data into clear, high-level strategic narratives for the C-Suite, enabling data-driven decision-making and operational excellence across the portfolio. The ideal candidate is a strategic, big-picture thinker who possesses both commercial acumen and technical empathy for energy infrastructure.

1. Strategic C-Suite Reporting & Executive Storytelling

• Serve as the primary architect for COO and C-Suite operational reporting.
• Distil complex operational data, asset monitoring metrics, and technical updates into polished, high-impact executive presentation decks.
• Draft key executive talking points, ensuring technical realities are accurately translated into commercial and strategic business impacts.

2. Commercial & Financial Analysis of Asset Performance

• Apply a rigorous business and financial lens to the Asset Performance outputs (efficiency, downtime, digitalization ROI).
• Connect operational telemetry to the P&L—quantifying the financial impact of asset availability, digital optimizations, and maintenance strategies.

3.Executive Communication & Data Visualization.

• Executive Slide Architecture: Design, structure, and build polished, executive-ready presentation decks (PowerPoint) that translate complex asset performance data and L2 assurance findings into highly visual, digestible formats for the C-Suite and Board of Directors.
• AI-Assisted Synthesis: Leverage Generative AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Gemini Enterprise, or specialized slide-generation tools) to accelerate the drafting, structuring, and refinement of slide content, ensuring rapid turnaround of high-quality executive briefs.
• Data Visualization: Transform raw engineering telemetry, financial models, and operational dashboards into intuitive charts and graphs that immediately highlight key risks, variances, and strategic recommendations.

4.Strategic Business Partnering

• Act as the trusted advisor between the COO, corporate finance, and technical engineering leads.
• Monitor broad energy industry trends and competitor operational strategies to ensure our asset performance metrics remain best-in-class.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field. (An MBA or advanced degree is advantageous).
• Experience: 6 - 10 years of progressive experience, ideally bridging corporate finance, commercial operations, or management consulting within the energy, utilities, or heavy infrastructure sectors.
• Executive Presence: Exceptional communication and presentation skills. Proven track record of drafting C-level board decks and articulating strategic vision to senior executives.
• Analytical Acumen: Strong financial and commercial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret technical/engineering data without getting lost in the weeds.
• Strategic Mindset: Ability to zoom out and see the big picture, connecting daily asset performance to the company's overarching market strategy.
• AI-Powered Productivity: Hands-on experience utilizing Generative AI tools and prompt engineering to assist in slide creation, executive summarizing, data interpretation, and professional drafting.
• Presentation Tools: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint (experience with think-cell, Power BI, or AI-integrated presentation add-ins is highly advantageous).
• Structured Communication: Strong grasp of executive communication frameworks to craft compelling, logical slide narratives.
• Technical Empathy: Comfortable collaborating closely with engineers and digital monitoring teams; able to translate their work into business value.
