Legal Counsel

An established global technology organization is looking for a Legal Counsel to join its Singapore team on a 12-month parental-leave contract.

In this role, you will advise internal teams on legal and business matters, draft and negotiate agreements, and help stakeholders identify and resolve legal issues connected with their projects and products. You will manage most matters independently, with support available for unusual or highly complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice to internal business and product teams.
• Draft, review and negotiate agreements and other legal documents.
• Identify legal risks early and recommend commercially workable solutions.
• Use your understanding of the business and its products to anticipate potential issues.
• Work with stakeholders to resolve legal matters and keep projects progressing.
• Manage several legal requests and competing deadlines at the same time.
• Oversee legal projects when required.
• Escalate unusual or highly complex matters to senior legal colleagues.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity and attention to detail.
• Collaborate with colleagues across different functions, countries and cultures.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws or an equivalent legal qualification.
• Admitted and licensed to practise law in Singapore and in the Commonwealth jurisdiction.
• Approximately 5+ years of post-qualification legal experience.
• Experience gained in a law firm, an in-house legal team or a combination of both.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills in English.
• Sound legal and business judgement.
• Ability to advise stakeholders independently and communicate legal issues clearly.
• Strong organization and project-management skills.
• Comfortable working under deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
• Effective interpersonal skills within a global and multicultural organization.
