Our client is a leading commodities trading firm undergoing significant expansion. As Legal Counsel, you will provide legal support for trading activities, ensuring compliance and managing contractual risk in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities of this Legal Counsel:
- Advise on legal and regulatory issues related to commodities trading, including contracts, risk management, and compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate trading agreements (ISDA, EFET, and other industry-standard documentation).
- Support cross-border transactions and liaise with external counsel where necessary.
- Monitor developments in relevant laws and regulations impacting commodities markets.
- Provide strategic legal advice to stakeholders on trading operations and dispute resolution.
Requirements of this Legal Counsel:
- Qualified lawyer with 2-5 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in commodities trading.
- Strong understanding of trading documentation and risk management principles.
- Fluency in Mandarin (spoken and written) is essential to support regional stakeholders and counterparties.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in an international trading house or commodities-focused law firm is highly desirable.
- Experience in commodity trading or cross-border M&A legal work is a plus.
- Solid background in corporate legal governance, with the ability to manage both contentious and non-contentious matters, and proven expertise in cross-border legal complexities.
