Responsibilities
- Lead the company's legal, compliance and internal control functions across global offices.
- Provide practical, business-oriented legal and risk advice on market expansion, commercial partnerships, customer and supplier contracts, investments and strategic projects.
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, while managing external counsel, disputes, litigation and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions.
- Monitor local legal and regulatory developments, including corporate, employment, data privacy, anti-bribery, sanctions, consumer protection and licensing requirements.
- Establish and continuously improve the company's compliance, risk management and internal control frameworks.
- Conduct risk assessments, control testing and compliance reviews, and drive timely remediation of identified issues.
- Develop and maintain policies covering corporate governance, delegation of authority, conflicts of interest, whistleblowing, third-party management and data protection.
- Partner closely with regional and country teams, Finance, HR, Operations, Sales and Technology to embed controls into business processes.
- Provide clear reporting and recommendations to senior management and the Board/Audit Committee.
- Build and develop a high-performing regional Legal, Compliance and Internal Control team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Law or a related discipline; professional legal qualification is preferred.
- 8+ years of experience, including substantial in-house legal experience in a multinational, technology, platform or other complex business.
- Proven experience supporting operations across Southeast Asia and/or Latin America; multi-jurisdictional experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, corporate governance, data privacy, anti-bribery, regulatory compliance and internal controls.
- Demonstrated ability to balance legal and compliance requirements with commercial objectives.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- High integrity, sound judgment and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, culturally diverse environment.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin required, as the role involves regular engagement with Mandarin-speaking external counsel and business stakeholders in Greater China.
