Job Description

GENERAL MANAGER - FINE WINE TRADING DESK

Employer: Nectar Artisan Pte Ltd

Location: Singapore

Employment type: Full-time, permanent

Monthly salary: SGD 8,000 - 12,000 (fixed, plus performance bonus)

Reports to: Founders

Vacancies: 1

About the company

A boutique fine wine trading company based in Singapore, serving private collectors across Asia.

About the role

The General Manager runs the full commercial and operational cycle of the business. The role combines four functions that in larger firms sit in separate seats:

- European supplier sourcing - managing relationships with allocated producers and merchants in Europe negotiating parcel-level pricing.

- Private client sales - building and serving a book of high-net-worth private collectors in Singapore and across Asia.

- Trade operations - pricing, logistics, customs, bonded warehousing, invoicing, and settlement.

- Business systems - managing the internal dashboard, supplier price ingestion pipelines, and reporting infrastructure that the desk runs on.

This is a hands-on operator role, not a managerial overlay. The successful candidate will personally close offers, send price lists, negotiate with producers, sign off shipping documents, and own the P&L.

Key responsibilities

- Sourcing & supplier management

Maintain and develop direct relationships with European producers and merchants.

Negotiate allocated parcel pricing and payment terms with European counterparties.

Travel to Europe at least twice yearly for buying trips, tastings, and producer visits.

- Sales & client management

Build, grow and service a book of private high-net-worth wine collectors across Asia.

Draft and send offers via email and messaging platforms close orders.

Maintain a high-touch, discreet client relationship standard.

- Pricing & commercial operations

Normalise supplier prices across three European pricing formats (In Bond, Ex-VAT, Retail-inclusive-VAT) and benchmark them against Asian market reference prices.

Set landed selling prices that protect target margins after duty, freight, GST and warehousing.

Own gross margin reporting and monthly commercial performance.

- Logistics & compliance

Coordinate freight, customs clearance, and bonded warehousing in Singapore.

Ensure compliance with Singapore Customs, GST and excise duty requirements.

- Systems & reporting

Operate the internal trading dashboard for orders, inventory, invoicing and financial reporting.

Manage supplier price-list ingestion and data normalisation pipelines.

Produce monthly management reporting.

Requirements / Essential

- Minimum 6 years selling fine wine to private HNW clients in Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong, Greater China, Japan, Korea or Southeast Asia) - required to bring a transferable book and working knowledge of Asian collector preferences from day one.

- Direct, current relationships with allocated French producers and négociants across Burgundy (domaines), Bordeaux (négociants), Champagne, the Rhône and the Loire - at a depth that secures parcels not openly available on the wholesale market. The company's sourcing edge is built on producer-direct allocations across these regions, not on broker resale.

- Fluent professional French (spoken and written, in addition to English) - required for daily commercial negotiation, contract review, pricing and dispute resolution with French producers and merchants, who conduct commercial communication only in their national language.

- Working knowledge of the European fine wine pricing system - In Bond (IB) vs Ex-VAT vs Retail-inclusive formats, UK bonded warehousing (e.g. London City Bond, Octavian), excise duty rates, and the Liv-ex / LWIN identifier system. Mispricing across these formats directly destroys gross margin.

- Strong commercial numeracy across margin, FX, duty and landed-cost calculations.

- Advanced Excel comfort operating an internal trading dashboard.

- Singapore-based.

Bonus

- Working proficiency in Italian to support sourcing from Italian producers.

- Existing direct relationships with Italian producers (Piedmont, Tuscany).

- Prior experience in an asset-light, broker-led wine trading model (vs retail or restaurant trade).

- Experience opening or operating offices in additional Asian markets (e.g. Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia).

What we offer

Fixed monthly salary of SGD 8,000 - 12,000, commensurate with experience.

Performance bonus tied to gross margin delivery.

Direct ownership of P&L from day one.

A small, founder-led team. No bureaucracy.

The opportunity to scale a profitable, asset-light business into adjacent Asian markets.

How to apply

Apply through the MyCareersFuture portal. Please include:

- A current CV.

- A short note (max 300 words) describing your three most significant producer relationships in France, and your current client book scale (in approximate revenue terms - no client names required).

All applications will be reviewed on the basis of merit, in line with the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices. Nectar Artisan Pte Ltd is an equal-opportunity employer. We welcome applications from Singapore citizens, permanent residents.
