Finance Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Planning & Budgeting
• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with project and company goals.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and monitor cash flow across multiple construction projects.
• Project Accounting
• Oversee project costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reports, and revenue recognition.
• Manage progress claims, subcontractor payments, and retention sums.
• Financial Reporting
• Ensure timely preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Consolidate accounts for group-level reporting when required.
• Compliance & Taxation
• Handle GST, corporate tax filings, and statutory reporting.
• Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and government agencies.
• Risk Management & Internal Controls
• Implement strong internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and finance regulations.
• Stakeholder Management
• Work closely with banks, auditors, contractors, and project managers.
• Provide financial insights to support executive decision-making.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, ACCA, or CPA.
• Experience: Minimum 5-8 years in finance, with exposure to construction or engineering.
• Technical Knowledge: Project accounting, WIP, contract costing, FRS115/FRS116 standards.
• Skills: Leadership, analytical thinking, problem-solving, proficiency in financial software.
• Languages: In some firms, Mandarin proficiency is preferred for stakeholder communication.

• Complex Cash Flow: Progress billing and retention sums can strain liquidity.
• Regulatory Compliance: Strict adherence to tax and GST requirements.
• Coordination Issues: Aligning finance with project managers and contractors.
• Risk Exposure: Cost overruns and delays impacting profitability.
