[What the role is]
As a Scientific Officer of Radiation Services Branch (RSB) within the Radiation Monitoring and Services Division, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of radiation workers. You will be part of a dynamic team, managing multiple priorities to deliver timely and high-quality personal dose monitoring services.
Your role is to manage and execute multiple priorities to ensure our radiation workers receive timely dose monitoring and quality service.
[What you will be working on]
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & Service Management
- Lead a team of technical officers and external vendors assisting with the processes, to provide personal dose monitoring for radiation workers
- Oversee and manage external vendors providing dosimetry services
- Develop and maintain the National Dose Registry system for comprehensive radiation exposure monitoring
- Keep abreast on technological advancements and evolving dosimetry requirements to enhance safety of radiation workers
- Laboratory Operations
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of equipment to uphold accuracy and reliability of dose measurements
- Participate in and perform inter-laboratory comparison tests to maintain high standards
- Plan and prepare for potential expansion into whole body dose measurement capabilities
- Be prepared to undertake other duties as required by organizational needs
- Quality & Systems Management
- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for all dosimetry services
- Ensure compliance with international standards and best practices in radiation protection
- Keep updated on developments in quality management systems, including:
- ISO/IEC 17025 requirements for testing and calibration laboratories
- International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) quality standards for dosimetry services
- Emerging quality assurance protocols and best practices
- Dosimetry laboratory quality control
- Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with external vendors, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery
- Coordinate with internal departments for cross-functional projects
- Manage customer relationships and provide technical consultation and support to stakeholders
[What we are looking for]
This role might be for you if you possess the following:
- Degree in Science (Chemistry) or equivalent
- At least 2 years of relevant working experience in a laboratory and/or in radiation protection, dosimetry, or radiochemistry will be an advantage
- Knowledge of radiation protection, regulatory and ISO 17025 requirements, database management systems and digital platforms will be beneficial
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in vendor management and stakeholder engagement preferred
- Possess effective scientific communication and good interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex information and collaborate with various stakeholders
- Able to work effectively under tight deadlines, adaptive to changes and possess a positive work attitude
- Highly motivated, meticulous, and takes initiative in your work
- Have a passion for innovative and enjoy working across diverse teams
