Lead and manage the entire engineering design lifecycle for offshore oil and gas development platforms, including conceptual, FEED, and detailed design phases.
Ensure technical quality and compliance with international and regional standards and codes.
Identify key design challenges and provide guidance on complex technical issues across disciplines.
Oversee design activities on medium to large-scale offshore projects, ensuring milestones, budgets, and technical standards are met.
Develop and execute project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
Monitor progress, manage project changes, and ensure alignment with overall project objectives.
Ensure all design activities comply with Qatar's laws, regulations, industry standards, and qualification certification requirements.
Coordinate with local regulatory authorities and certification bodies to facilitate design approvals and compliance reviews.
Maintain effective communication with internal teams, clients, vendors, and external partners.
Balance stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts to ensure project alignment and continuity.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations, progress updates, and design reports as required.
Quickly assess project risks and design-related challenges, and develop actionable mitigation strategies.
Implement proactive problem-solving practices to ensure uninterrupted project progress.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Offshore Oil & Gas Engineering Design or a related field
Minimum 15 years of experience in the design of offshore oil and gas development platforms
At least 5 years in a design management role on large-scale offshore projects
Proven ability to lead complex engineering design projects from early concept through to execution
In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and certification processes for offshore oil & gas in Qatar is a MUST
Experience in managing design reviews and regulatory approvals in the Middle East region
PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials preferred
Prior work experience on Qatar-based projects is an advantage
Knowledge of Shell and Qatar Petroleum (QP) standards is a preferred
Excellent command of English
Familiarity with international standards and Middle East regional mechanical design codes.
