Job description :
- Litigation & Disputes Resolution: Handle complex litigation and disputes, manage customer complaints and corporate remedials, lead internal investigations, provide strategic legal advice in negotiations, settlements and other legal proceedings.
- Regulatory: Render practical advice on banking and financial regulations, monitor and advise on regulatory developments, review compliance policies, provide support on regulatory enquiries, work with various departments including risk management, operations, finance and executive leadership to ensure that the bank's practices align with legal and ethical standards.
- Governance: Provide guidance on the bank's governance frameworks, rules and procedures to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and ethical standards which are aligned with the bank's strategic objectives, keep abreast of latest corporate governance best practices and guidelines and ensuring their implementation, review and update internal governance documents such as the TOR, corporate policies and codes of conduct.
- This role reports to the Head, Legal, Group Wealth Management, but the scope of work spans all business lines.
Requirements
- Law degree holder with at least 6 years PQE, ideally from a top law firm or in-house in a bank.
- Experienced in wealth management, mass retail banking and/or corporate banking, with a focus on litigation and disputes resolution, regulatory and/or governance.
- Needs to be able to work independently and collaboratively and be willing to provide legal and regulatory support across different business segments and a wide range of banking products.
- Has strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, and an ability to manage multiple cases, initiatives and projects.
