This is achieved by promoting students personal growth through co-curricular learning opportunities, which includes student-led activities, leadership development initiatives, residential hall programmes, integration efforts, community engagement initiatives, as well as arts and sports development.
The position of Deputy Director, Student Life and Campus Vibrancy is instrumental in supporting the Director, Student Affairs Office (SAO) in the strategic planning, management, and continuous improvement of key student life and co-curricular programmes.
This leadership role is pivotal in shaping the co-curricular learning experience and enhancing student engagement for over 38,000 students at NTU.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Central Administration
Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic roadmap for the Student Life and Campus Vibrancy portfolio. This includes driving innovation in co-curricular programming across Student Organisations such as the Cultural Activities Club, Welfare Services Club, Academic Clubs, Scholars, Sports, Special Interests, and Residential Life to enhance student vibrancy and engagement.
Oversee budget management, financial governance, and operational excellence for all assigned portfolios, ensuring strict compliance with university financial policies and internal controls.
Provide strategic guidance on governance structures, key initiatives, and policy alignment for all student organisations under the portfolio's purview.
Collaborate closely with the Student Governance and Student Leadership teams to implement relevant leadership training programmes and establish sound governance policies for student leaders within this portfolio.
Represent the SAO in university-level committees and actively foster collaborative partnerships with Schools, administrative offices, and external partners to enhance the breadth and quality of co-curricular opportunities.
Ensure operational excellence in programme delivery, resource management, and adherence to all university policies and statutory requirements.
Leadership of Student Life and Campus Vibrancy
Provide strategic guidance to SAO Staff Advisors and student organisations, overseeing their governance, financial frameworks, and operational activities in collaboration with other relevant Student Affairs Office units.
Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, agility, and professional excellence.
Champion professional development for staff, ensuring the team remains agile and responsive to emerging trends and best practices within student affairs globally.
Operate with a servant leadership approach, prioritising student needs while simultaneously empowering staff and student leaders to innovate. Collaboration, transparency, and accountability shall be the guiding principles for all activities.
Key Requirements:
Degree in any discipline
At least 15 years of work experience, with at least 8 years in a supervisory role. Prior experience in the tertiary education sector is advantageous.
Proven leadership experience with good working knowledge of corporate functions (Finance, Procurement, Risk Management) and strategic planning.
Deep understanding of student development practices and co-curricular programme design.
Strong analytical skills with experience in leveraging data systems to inform decision-making.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advise and mentor young adults from diverse backgrounds.
Resourceful, with strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving capabilities.
A strong passion for nurturing and developing students, combined with the ability to supervise, motivate, and coach staff.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
