Job Description

Role Purpose

The Deputy Director will support the Director, Finance in strengthening the operational effectiveness and governance framework of the Shared Services Unit (SSU), which provides accounting and finance-related support services to unions and associations.

The role will work closely with the SSU team to support operational coordination, strengthen governance and process clarity, enhance service delivery and support the continued development of the SSU function in meeting the needs of unions and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Coordination and Service Enhancement

  • Strengthen operational coordination and service delivery across SSU portfolios supporting unions and associations
  • Guide and support the team in managing portfolios, work allocation, and operational alignment across the unit
  • Ensure continuity and quality of support provided to unions and associations
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance with relevant policies and regulatory requirements

2. Process Improvement and Governance

  • Review and strengthen workflows, SOPs, templates, and operational practices within SSU
  • Improve consistency and clarity in service delivery across different portfolios
  • Lead the development and formalisation of key governance and operational documents for SSU, including Terms of Reference (TOR) and relevant SOPs
  • Lead the development and formalisation of Service Level Agreements (SLA) with unions to provide clearer alignment on service, scope, roles, responsibilities and expectations.

3. Stakeholder Management

  • Engage unions and internal stakeholders on operational and finance-related support matters
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and support resolution of complex or sensitive issues
  • Work closely with Unions Department and other internal teams to ensure coordinated support

Requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business, or related discipline
  • Professional qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred
  • At least 10–15 years of relevant experience in finance operations, accounting, shared services, or stakeholder-facing finance environments
  • Experience leading teams and managing operational functions with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in process improvement, governance, or operational structuring work
  • Familiarity with audit, compliance, GST and financial reporting.
