Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Golden Agri Sugar Team trades about 700,000 MT or about 25,000 TEUs of white sugar annually on a truly global scale. This encompasses a wide range of trade corridors, namely from origins like Brazil, Thailand, India, Guatemala, Europe to the sugar consumption areas in Middle East, Mediterranean, West Africa and Asia. The team and the company has further ambitions and means for growth. The sugar business is lodged under the umbrella of the largest palm oil plantation in Indonesia and one of the market leaders in palm products worldwide.

We are looking for a Commercial Executive with about 1-3 years experience, and good understanding of operations and freight (containers and conventional). Position is for our headquarters in Singapore, and will require direct and constant cooperation with our offices around the globe. The ideal candidate will be responsible for purchases and sales of sugar in the South East Asia region both in bulk and in containers, growing the customer base and Golden Agri footprint in regional sugar market, setting and executing trading strategies for South East Asia in close collaboration with trading lead in our European Office.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Senior Trader in the Singapore Office looking after Asia Pacific region, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Create value for the company, take daily commercial decisions
  • Overlook and coordinate sugar trading positions in South East Asia, both on physical and futures report risks
  • Sell sugar with a focus on South East Asia and Asia Pacific regions
  • Create a long lasting and profitable relationship with the customers and suppliers.
  • Develop new customers portfolio, actively search for new customers helping the company to increase its footprint and profitability
  • Manage the Physical/Futures risk positions
  • Understand regional Sugar Supply and Demand
  • Supply the global Sugar team with market information. Keep track of regional SnD.
  • Work closely with GAI/GAR sugar teams, its accounting, operations and trading desks
  • Have close contact with our market risk team in order to keep our counterparty risk controlled.
  • Liaise with local trade execution team and finance team on all relevant topics for an accurate recording of PNL,
  • Feed GAI/GAR Offices with info on market demand, client performance and any information relevant to GAI/GAR's S&D models

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business or equivalent with specialization in International Business, Economics or Supply Chain is preferred but not a necessity.
  • Sales experience with a proven track record is a plus
  • Related working experience in commodities trading, experience in sugar a plus but not necessary.
  • Self-driven and results-oriented, able to take decisions independently
  • Interest in international trade & agricultural markets
  • Customer-oriented with strong networking skills.
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills ability to communicate professionally, verbally and in writing
  • Good analytical and negotiation skills
  • Humble approach, hands-on and curious
  • Working experience in the Commodity industry
  • Ability to execute in a fast-paced environment
  • Sales oriented, able to achieve competitive goals
  • Ability to set priorities, handle tight deadlines and work well under pressure
  • A team player and independent thinker
