Our client, a highly regarded international marine insurance organisation, is seeking an experienced Claims Executive to join its Singapore office.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a legally qualified professional (England & Wales, Singapore, or another common law jurisdiction) to build a long-term career within a globally recognised P&I Club. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years experience, with hands-on exposure to claims involving smaller vessels.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of P&I claims, ensuring matters are handled efficiently, accurately, and in line with established claims procedures. This is a hands-on role suited to someone looking to apply their legal training in a commercial insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and progress a caseload of P&I claims in accordance with internal claims procedures
- Maintain accurate file records and financial estimates
- Prepare high-quality reports, including agenda notes, reinsurer notifications and circulars
- Identify and report claims trends to senior stakeholders, including Underwriters and Loss Prevention
- Draft and issue written notifications for large or complex claims
- Work closely with correspondents, lawyers and technical experts
- Share knowledge and contribute to best practice initiatives within the Claims team
- Participate in training and ongoing professional development
- Collaborate with Underwriters to support member relationships and business development
- Assist with ad-hoc projects as required by Claims management
Experience & Qualifications
- Legally qualified in England & Wales, Singapore, or another common law jurisdiction (essential)
- Minimum five years experience in a P&I or Defence Club environment (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of shipping law and its application to marine insurance and claims
- Familiarity with the International Group of P&I Clubs and its claims handling framework
- Experience managing disputes, including litigation, arbitration, mediation or negotiated settlements
