Job Summary
Oversee and manage chartering operations to secure vessels for transportation, negotiate contracts, analyze market trends, and coordinate vessel scheduling to optimize profitability and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Manage chartering operations by securing vessels that meet transportation needs to support business objectives
- Negotiate charter parties and contracts to maximize profitability and ensure operational efficiency
- Analyze shipping market trends and demands to develop and adjust chartering strategies effectively
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, ship owners, and clients to facilitate smooth chartering processes
- Coordinate vessel scheduling and port rotations to meet contractual obligations and optimize logistics
- Administer and ensure compliance with Charter Party Agreements (CPA) and related contracts
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Maritime Studies or related field is preferred.
- Minimum 3-7 years of experience in tankers chartering or similar shipping operations.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing beneficial charter agreements.
- Good market research abilities to identify competitive chartering opportunities.
- Proficient in calculating and pricing shipping deals effectively.
- Ability to manage and develop client relationships, including brokers and vessel owners.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
