Key responsibilities:
- Enhance the company's market position and drive financial growth through targeted business development initiatives
- Identify emerging market opportunities and contribute to strategic planning and execution
- Achieve and exceed sales objectives by developing new business opportunities and expanding existing accounts
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential and active leads through proactive outreach, client meetings and presentations
- Prepare and execute sales planning and forecasting activities aligned with company goals
- Identify and pursue target customers via cold calls, networking and tailored presentations
- Develop long term client relationships by understanding logistics needs and offering customized solutions
- Provide timely updates and insights on sales performance, client feedback and market trends
- Coordinate closely with Indoor Sales and Operations teams to ensure smooth shipment execution
- Source competitive rates from carriers, hauliers, deugro offices and global agents
- Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors including carriers, co-loaders and trucking companies
- Generate profit in line with set KPIs and contribute to overall business performance
- Collaborate with Finance and Indoor Sales teams to resolve payment issues and follow up on outstanding client payments
- Foster effective teamwork across Business Development, Indoor Sales, and other functional teams
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to overcome challenges and achieve shared objectives
- Support the sales strategy set by the Head Of Business Development in alignment with company leadership
- Report and document all sales activities accurately using deugro's internal systems.
- Adhere to all company policies including compliance, regulatory standards, HSSE&Q protocol, Code of Conduct and Employee Handbook
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and industry knowledge
Skills, knowledge and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or a related discipline, with a strong academic foundation
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in the freight forwarding industry with solid understanding of Incoterms, operational processes, and end-to-end logistics execution
- Comprehensive knowledge of Shipping Line and Freight Forwarding products, including Sea/Air Import & Exports, Project Cargo, ODC, Ro-Ro, Breakbulk and Commodities
- Demonstrated success in B2B sales, client acquisition and contract negotiation, with a track record of achieving and exceeding targets
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain client relationship.
