Business Analyst

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join our client's team in the insurance sector. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders and technology teams to gather, analyse, and document requirements, design functional solutions, and support end-to-end project delivery. This role requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and is based fully onsite. Candidates with a background in Malaysian insurance are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interact with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand problems and needs, solve business challenges, and design functional solutions as required.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to liaise across project workstreams and stakeholders on project deliverables.
• Lead and facilitate requirements collection, perform analysis, and document findings into formal functional requirements, including preparation, facilitation, and documentation of workshops and meetings throughout all project phases.
• Represent the project team at workshops, presentations, showcases, and other meetings, ensuring decisions are communicated back to the development team.
• Ensure requirements are uniquely traceable, verifiable, and prioritised in a manner acceptable to both business and technology stakeholders.
• Design functional behaviour, user interface, and user experience through mock-ups and wireframes, and document the logical components of the system.
• Produce business and product/service requirements in the form of User Stories, BRDs, FSDs, RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and other relevant artefacts.
• Document business data structures including analysis, mining, mapping, and tracing of data across systems.
• Support and review test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test scripts, as well as defect verification throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Provide training support to project team members and stakeholders, and participate in deployment and post-implementation activities.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Business Analyst in IT project environments.
• Familiar with insurance business processes, products, and operations.
• Proven ability to elicit, analyse, and document business and functional requirements.
• Experience producing key BA artefacts including BRDs, FSDs, User Stories, and data mapping documents.
• Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, with experience running workshops and requirements sessions.
• Ability to create wireframes and UI/UX mock-ups to communicate functional design.
• Understanding of SDLC methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
• Experience supporting UAT, system testing, and defect management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Must be willing to work fully onsite.

Nice to Haves

• Background in Malaysian insurance industry strongly preferred.
• Experience working on core insurance system implementations or digital transformation initiatives.
• Familiarity with insurance regulatory requirements in Malaysia (BNM guidelines).
• BA-related certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent.
• Experience working with business intelligence or data analytics tools.
