About the Role

We are seeking a motivated procurement professional who is keen to build depth in MRO procurement within a complex, multi-site operating environment. The Assistant Manager, MRO Procurement will support the sourcing, contracting, and day-to-day management of MRO categories, working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure cost efficiency, supply continuity, and compliance with group procurement frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

1. MRO Procurement Execution

  • Support sourcing, contracting, and purchasing activities across assigned MRO and production consumables categories.
  • Participate in RFQs, tenders, and negotiations to establish and manage frame contracts in line with group guidelines.

2. Supplier and Contract Management

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key suppliers to support service reliability, cost outcomes, and supply risk mitigation.
  • Assist in monitoring supplier performance and resolving operational issues related to delivery, quality, pricing, or payment terms.

3. Stakeholder Collaboration and Operational Support

  • Work closely with mill operations and site procurement teams across APAC to support MRO requirements and track trial progress.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure timely availability of materials for maintenance and operations.

4. Spend Analysis and Process Improvement

  • Conduct spend analysis for assigned categories to identify consolidation, cost optimisation, and compliance opportunities.
  • Support initiatives to improve procurement efficiency, including contract coverage, PO automation, and reduction of contract leakage.
  • Identify uncategorised spend areas that may require centralised management.

5. Team and Functional Support

  • Support the MRO Procurement Manager in executing agreed priorities and day-to-day procurement activities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

Requirements

1. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 35 years of procurement experience supporting manufacturing or process plant operations; relevant sales experience in industrial/equipment-related industries may also be considered.
  • Exposure to plant-level or centralised procurement in a regional or global environment.

2. Skills & Competencies

  • Hands-on experience in supplier negotiation, including sole-source situations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across operational and improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with e-Sourcing or e-RFQ tools (e.g. SAP Ariba, Ivalua, Coupa).
  • Working knowledge of Incoterms, Microsoft Office, and spend analysis tools.
  • Effective communication in English and Mandarin to engage China-based stakeholders and suppliers.

3. Personal Characteristics

  • Able to work independently while collaborating well in a lean team.
  • Adaptable, positive, and comfortable in cross-cultural environments.
  • Demonstrates integrity and adherence to procurement and compliance standards.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior staff is an advantage.
