An Assistant Chartering Manager supports the chartering team in executing chartering activities and ensuring smooth operations. The role involves assisting in negotiating spot and time charter deals, conducting market research, preparing chartering calculations, and maintaining customer relationships. The Assistant Chartering Manager will work closely with the senior chartering staff and other departments to contribute to the company's overall chartering and business objectives.
- Assist in identifying business opportunities and executing voyages in the assigned region.
- Support the selection of voyages that maximise earnings potential while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers, and ship owners.
- Conduct market research and analyse freight trends to support strategy development.
- Coordinate with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure smooth execution of chartering activities.
- Prepare accurate charter calculations and assist in negotiations of charter party agreements.
- Monitor ongoing charter performance and provide timely updates to the team.
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in dry bulk chartering / cargo operations (Supramax, Handymax segment preferred).
- Familiarity with chartering terms, shipping documents, and charter party agreements.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English is required Mandarin proficiency will be an advantage for liaising with Chinese clients.
