We invite applications for a Visiting Chair position in Sikh Studies. The endowed position, at the South Asian Studies Programme, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the National University of Singapore, will enable the university to attract leading scholars in the field of Sikh Studies who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and research and established international recognition. Scholars who are based at NUS are also eligible to apply.
The appointed candidate will assume stewardship for teaching an undergraduate module in the field of Sikh Studies, contribute to broader curricular requirements at NUS, take part in activities such as departmental seminars, conferences, faculty meetings etc. as mutually agreed between NUS and the Visiting Professor. The Visiting Professor will deliver over the course of their appointment two public lectures organised by the Singapore Central Sikh Gurdwara Board (CSGB).
The successful candidate should be a scholar who has successfully completed doctoral studies in a relevant discipline. He/She shouId have a strong international scholarly reputation, extensive experience of teaching and student supervision, a recognized research profile. He/She will be expected to contribute to the teaching, research and service in the department in which he/she is appointed.
The successful candidate will have a primary appointment in the South Asian Studies Programme in the NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, according to area of expertise. The Visiting Professorship title will be for a period of up to six months.
