Job Description

The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time.

Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan's leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.

Purpose of the Role
Oversight of strategy and business analysis for the organisation, assist in conceptualisation, articulation and execution of business strategy internally and externally and realise synergies across the business verticals.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Development & Execution

  • Partner senior leadership to formulate, refine, and execute corporate and business unit strategies aligned with organisational objectives
  • Conduct rigorous strategic and financial analysis to evaluate growth opportunities, new business initiatives, and market entry strategies
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps, milestones, and success metrics

Business Analysis & Operating Model Design

  • Design and enhance operating models, including end-to-end enterprise processes, governance structures, and performance frameworks
  • Identify inefficiencies and transformation opportunities across business units to improve scalability and effectiveness
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations through data-driven analysis and structured problem-solving

Strategic Initiatives & Transformation

  • Provide oversight and governance for key strategic and transformation initiatives to ensure timely and effective execution
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver enterprise-wide programmes and change initiatives
  • Monitor progress, manage risks, and report outcomes to senior management and key stakeholders

M&A, Partnerships & Corporate Ventures

  • Support the evaluation and execution of mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and divestments, including strategic rationale, due diligence, and integration planning
  • Work closely with internal and external advisors, including legal, finance, and business teams

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and leadership teams on strategic matters
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations and materials for internal leadership, shareholders, and external stakeholders

Requirements
Experience

  • Proven experience in business strategy, corporate development, transformation, or related roles
  • Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into action
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise effectively, and deliver under tight timelines
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with strong proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strategic thinker with a structured and commercial mindset
  • Highly adaptable, resourceful, and comfortable operating in a dynamic environment

Education

  • Academic: Bachelor's/Master's degree
