User Experience Engineer

Salt is looking to hire an UI/UX Designer for a 6 months extendable contract role

What Will You Do:

• Modernizing and enhancing the visual presentation of existing UI components to adapt to anew design system
• Replacing existing UI components with modern, standardized components. This includes identifying suitable replacements and implementing the necessary code changes within the existing templating system
• Modifying and styling existing components to align with specific visual design specifications. This involves applying visual adjustments likecolors, fonts, and spacing, using a system of design tokens and the established styling mechanisms.
• Creating new, custom UI components wherestandard components do not fully meet the project&aposs needs. These components will bedeveloped to align with the overall design system&aposs principles, and may include codewritten in TypeScript and TSX.
• Support development teams throughout the implementation cycle.
• Be an advocate for the user. Conduct primary and/or secondary research, as well as quick rounds of usability tests.

What will You Need:

• 5 years of experience in front-end development, technical UX
• Strong experience with a templating language (Js layout/Wiz is a plus ).
• UI Development: Experience developing user interfaces using html/css/js without relying on framework
• Proficiency with CSS and SaSS
• TypeScript & TSX: Experience with TypeScript and TSX for UI development
• Writing well-structured, maintainable code
• A passionate experience designer with a proven track record of great designs and strategy that meet user needs, product requirements, and business goals.
• Experience with unit and UI testing
• Functional replacements of older components with modern alternatives, integrated into the existing UI and or as standalone testable
• Participating in code reviews with a broader Engineering team.
• Documenting implemented changes
