Position: Training Officer (5 Vacancies)
Location: Metta Day Activity Centre - Hougang / Woodlands
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday
Hours: 8:00 am-5:00 pm (Woodlands) / 8:30 am-5:30 pm (Hougang)
Salary: $1,800 - $2,200+
(Candidates with relevant experience may be considered for a Senior Training Officer role with higher salary.)
About Us
Metta Welfare Association supports adults with intellectual disabilities (ages 18-55) through residential and day-care services. Our Day Activity Centres (DACs) in Hougang and Woodlands provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment that builds independence, daily living skills, community participation, and positive behaviour. Beneficiaries include individuals with Down Syndrome, autism, and developmental delays. Our programmes aim to help them improve communication, self-care, and social skills to lead more fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities
Client Care and Training
- Ensure clients safety, hygiene, and well-being at all times.
- Plan, support, and implement approved training programmes and activities.
- Help clients develop and maintain daily living skills, community living skills, and positive pro-social behaviour.
- Conduct continuous assessment, training, and evaluation of clients holistic development.
- Maintain accurate client records, including attendance, progress reports, ABC charts for behaviour observations, incident reports, ICPs, and communication logs with caregivers.
- Coordinate with caregivers and volunteers to support each client's development.
- Monitor and report clients physiological and psychological well-being escalate concerns as needed.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure quality service delivery aligned with the organisation's mission.
- Recommend and help implement new programmes or behaviour-management plans for clients.
Other Duties
- Participate in agency events, fund-raising activities, and volunteer engagement as required.
- Comply with all safety rules, regulations, and Safe Management Measures (SMM).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Minimum Secondary / N- / O-Level qualification.
- Relevant certifications or training in disability care or special education is an advantage.
- Prior experience in disability services, social care, or special-needs education preferred.
- Responsible, patient, and empathetic, with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
