Role: Trading Systems Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to join a high-performance engineering team supporting low-latency trading systems. You will work across a hybrid infrastructure environment (on-prem and cloud), building and maintaining scalable, reliable systems that enable the broader tech organisation to innovate securely and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Build, deploy, and manage high-performance Linux systems supporting trading and research platforms across both on-prem and cloud environments
- Monitor system performance and optimise capacity to reduce bottlenecks and improve reliability
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues across distributed systems, spanning hardware, OS, and cloud infrastructure
- Design and implement intelligent automation to improve system efficiency and reduce operational overhead
- Develop infrastructure tools in Python and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using tools such as Ansible and Terraform
- Work with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure) to support scalable compute, storage, and networking solutions
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, researchers, and infrastructure teams to ensure optimal system design and integration
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance performance, scalability, and resilience
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience designing and supporting Linux/Unix server environments in performance-critical settings
- Strong understanding of Linux systems internals, performance tuning, and resource management
- Experience working in hybrid or cloud-based environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Strong scripting/coding ability in Python with a focus on automation and tooling
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Ansible, Terraform, or similar)
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and distributed systems architecture
- Experience supporting latency-sensitive or high-performance systems is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- A proactive, curious approach to solving problems and driving improvements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
