Position Summary
The Trendy Toys Category Manager is responsible for driving the growth and profitability of fast-moving, trend-driven toy categories. This role focuses on identifying emerging toy trends, sourcing innovative and in-demand products, and ensuring timely market launches to capture consumer interest. The ideal candidate is highly trend-sensitive, commercially sharp, and passionate about youth culture, collectibles, licensed products, and viral toy movements.
Job Description
The Trendy Toys Category Manager leads the end-to-end management of trend-based toy assortments, ensuring the right products are introduced at the right time and price to maximize sales performance. This role requires strong market scanning, supplier sourcing (local and overseas), agile inventory planning, and close collaboration with marketing and retail teams to capitalize on seasonal peaks, viral trends, and licensed product opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Identify emerging toy trends, viral products, licensed characters, and seasonal opportunities through market research and social media insights
- Develop and execute short- and mid-term category strategies aligned with current consumer demand
- Source and evaluate new trendy products from local and overseas suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, promotional support, and exclusive deals with suppliers
- Plan rapid product launches to capitalize on trending demand cycles
- Manage assortment mix including collectibles, blind boxes, licensed toys, novelty items, and seasonal merchandise
- Monitor sell-through rates and react quickly to high-performing or slow-moving items
- Collaborate with marketing on campaigns, social media promotions, and in-store visual merchandising
- Work closely with supply chain to ensure timely replenishment and minimize dead stock
- Analyze sales data and prepare performance reports with actionable recommendations
Working Conditions
- Office-based role with occasional store visits
- 5-day work week
- May require extended hours during peak periods, product launches, or major campaigns

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or buying (retail industry preferred)
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Proficient in Excel and data analysis tools
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong commercial acumen and result-oriented mindset
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
