Faststream is partnering with a leading ship owner to appoint an experienced Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical management and operational performance of a fleet of dry bulk vessels.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior seagoing engineer looking to transition ashore, or an experienced superintendent seeking to join a well-established business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the technical performance, reliability, and maintenance of assigned dry bulk vessels
- Ensure full compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and statutory requirements
- Conduct vessel inspections and follow up on deficiencies, corrective actions, and audit findings
- Monitor vessel budgets, repair costs, drydockings, and modification projects
- Identify cost optimisation opportunities and recommend technical improvements across the fleet
- Coordinate repairs, maintenance works, and third-party service providers
- Support newbuilding projects including drawing reviews, yard attendance, sea trials, and vessel deliveries
- Oversee incident reporting processes and ensure timely closure of corrective actions
- Keep abreast of new maritime regulations and assess operational impact on fleet activities
Requirements
- Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency
- Minimum 2 years sailing experience as Chief Engineer on dry bulk vessels
- Previous shore-based superintendent experience is advantageous
- Marine Engineering degree or relevant technical background
- Strong budgeting, cost control, and vessel operating cost management experience
- Familiarity with fleet management / PMS systems (experience with Trans software advantageous)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
