The Technical Sales Engineer acts as a trusted technical advisor to customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders. This role combines strong technical expertise with commercial acumen to support product application, problem resolution, and new business development. The incumbent provides hands-on technical support, translates complex product data into effective sales and marketing tools, and contributes to the development and positioning of new and existing products.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical expert to customer, sales teams, distributors, and other internal or external partners.
- Provide technical support in product development, application, processing techniques, and troubleshooting.
- Partner with sales and marketing teams to support customer visits, technical presentations, and solution development.
- Support the development and application of new products and technologies.
- Provide input on regulatory, environmental, and compliance-related product matters as they relate to customer applications.
- Plan, conduct, and complete complex experiments or technical evaluations requiring interpretation and analysis.
- Apply in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge within the assigned technology discipline to solve customer and business challenges.
- Identify and propose innovative solutions by applying proven ideas, tools, or methodologies from other technical or business areas.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, with demonstrated industry experience leading technical initiatives, supporting customers, and coaching junior professionals within a chemical industry.
- Strong understanding of products and technical capabilities across the relevant business segment.
- Demonstrated ability to balance technical problem-solving with customer and commercial considerations.
- Experience collaborating with sales, marketing, and R&D teams is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
