The Technical Director (power plant) is responsible for the design governance and technical assurance of power generation projects. This position leads the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Design, and technical delivery for clients (IPPs, Utilities, or Governments).
Job Description1. Design Leadership & Technical AssuranceDesign Authority: Act as the final technical signatory for all power plant designs (Thermal, WtE, Biomass, or Renewables), ensuring compliance with international codes (NFPA, Eurocodes, API) and grid codes .Project Lifecycle Management: Oversee the engineering delivery from Conceptual Design, Feasibility Studies, FEED, to Detailed Design and Procurement support .Quality Control: Establish and enforce minimum quality standards, best practices, and review procedures (Peer Reviews, Model Reviews) for all engineering deliverables (drawings, calculations, specifications) .2. Client & Business Development (BD)Technical Pursuits: Lead the technical preparation of tender bids (RFPs/EOI), including man-hour estimation, methodology statements, and design optimization strategies to win projects.Client Management: Serve as the senior technical interface for clients, regulators, and lenders. Present complex technical solutions and due diligence reports to stakeholders .Scope Management: Liaise with clients regarding project progress, technical decisions, and change orders to ensure deliverables are met on time and budget .3. Technical Studies & InnovationDue Diligence: Conduct Lenders Technical Advisory, Owner's Engineer services, and risk assessments for project financing .Problem Solving: Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for design failures during construction or commissioning. Drive value engineering initiatives to reduce capital expenditure (CAPEX) for clients .Qualifications & RequirementsEducation:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.15 to 20+ years of experience in the power generation sector, with significant experience working for a power plant sector including Developer, Consulting Engineering Firm, EPC Contractor.Proven track record in the Detailed Design of large-scale power plants (e.g., 100MW combined cycle, WtE, or large substations).Experience managing P&L and winning tender bids (Business Development) would be preferred
