Primary Responsibility:
To passionately inspire students with a stimulating,challenging, and enjoyable learning experience, both in and beyond theclassroom. This role extends beyond academic instruction to fostering criticalthinking, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning, empowering students tothrive holistically and achieve their full potential within the supportiveethos of SJI International, while upholding the highest standards ofsafeguarding and student well-being.
SpecificResponsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
. Identify and adopt the most effective active, creative teachingapproaches for SJII students in line with current best practice and the ethosof our school
. Work with other members ofthe Faculty to apply consistent standards in the following: curriculum planningand delivery formative and summative assessment through classwork, homeworkand formal examination standardisation and moderation of the examinationsprocess
. Create a stimulatinglearning environment, including displays of student work
. Teach across the ageand ability ranges from Foundation IGCSE (Grades 7 & 8) through toIGCSE (Grades 9 & 10), to the IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11 & 12) [IBDP/A-Levelexperience is an advantage]
. Identify and takeadvantage of opportunities to use resources offered within and beyond Singaporeto take learning outside the classroom
. Adopt strategies andmonitor teaching and learning activities to support individuals with SEN/ESL inline with school and faculty policy
. Ensure compliance with allrules regarding health and safety in the classroom
. Set and mark homeworkregularly in line with school and faculty policy
. Identify and teach studyskills/strategies that will develop students ability to work independently
. Take part in the process and marking of the Extended Essaycomponent of the IB Diploma
Assessment, Recording and Reporting:
. Set clear targets forraising achievement
. Collect and recordassessment data
. Comply with establishedsystems for identifying, assessing and reviewing student progress
. Develop an understandingof different learning needs and the importance of raising achievement amongstudents
. Attend parent conferences and keep parentsinformed about their child's progress, both formally through regularassessments and written reports, and informally through effective communication
Standards and Quality Assurance:
. Support the aims and ethosof SJII as a Catholic, Lasallian school
. Support the school'sestablished CASL (Creativity, Activity, Service, Lasallian) program
. Set a good example interms of dress, punctuality and attendance
. Attend and participate inopen evenings and student performances
. Uphold the school'sbehaviour code and uniform regulations
. Actively participate inthe school's professional growth and development system
. Attend team and staffmeetings
OtherDuties and Responsibilities
. Actively engage in the pastoral care of students byfulfilling the responsibilities of a Form Tutor.
. Contribute significantly to the service, sport, pastoral,activity programmes, outdoor education and overseas expeditions, demonstratinga commitment to students holistic growth and building positive relationshipsbeyond the classroom.
. Be an advocate of the school and its decisions during interactionswith students, staff, and the community.
. Lead in nurturing a Lasallian Catholic ethos by building uponthe legacy and tradition of the school firmly anchored in Faith, Service,Community, Excellence and Respect.
. Maintain good working relationships with colleagues andstudents.
. Be a role model within the school in terms of professionalexpertise and conduct and lead by example.
. Treat others fairly and with respect in order to create andmaintain a positive school culture.
. Build a collaborative learning culture within the school andmanage innovation and change.
. Take on specific tasks related to the day-to-dayadministration and organisation of the school as requested by the Principal orother senior leaders.
Qualifications and Skills
. Bachelor's degree in Education or related field Master'sdegree preferred.
. Bachelordegree in Chinese Language & Literature
Desirable
. The ability to teach Chinese Language & Literature at IBDiploma level.
