We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Sous Chef / All-Rounder Cook to join our team at a seaside bistro. You will support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and ensure consistent food quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Head Chef in menu execution for local Chinese dishes (zichar-style, stir-fry, noodles, rice dishes, etc.)
- Prepare, cook, and plate dishes according to standards
- Supervise kitchen team during service when required
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety & cleanliness (SFA standards)
- Monitor inventory, assist with ordering and stock rotation
- Ensure kitchen equipment is well maintained
- Support in menu development, specials, and new dishes
- Work closely with team to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control
- Handle prep work efficiently (marination, sauces, cutting, mise en place)
- Any other kitchen duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Experience in Chinese / local cuisine is a must
- Able to handle wok, stir-fry, steaming, and basic prep
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good teamwork, communication, and leadership attitude
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene
- Positive working attitude, responsible and reliable
- Willing to work on weekends / public holidays (as per F&B norms)
- Candidates looking to grow into Sous Chef or Head Chef role are welcome
