About the Job:
The Social Worker in the foster care team supports children who are placed in alternative out-of-home arrangements (foster care, kinship care or nanny care).
We are looking for 2 social workers focusing on different areas: (1) foster care and nanny care, (2) kinship care and supervised contact between the child with natural family. Applicants are welcome to specify the areas that they would like to apply for, or indicate if they are open to either area.
The role involves providing comprehensive case management,delivering trauma-informed interventions, and engaging in systemic work with caregivers and relevant stakeholders to ensure that children's safety,well-being, and care needs are met. This position is suited to a committed and passionate individual who is motivated to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.
Job Scope:
- Handle casework and counselling/ intervention
- Conduct regular home visits and sessions to ensure that the placement is able to safeguard and promote the child's safety, stability and well-being
- Supervise access to ensure a safe contact between the child and the natural family
- Strengthen bonds between parents/caregivers and children, and coach parents/caregivers to apply positive child management and parenting strategies during supervised access
- Assess the suitability of new foster parents/caregivers
- Work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders and external agencies to coordinate resources and services, meet clients needs, and monitor progress of the case plan
- Plan and conduct group work or programmes for the children/ caregivers/ families
- Provide support to the team in planning and execution of outreach events aimed at recruiting new foster parents and volunteers
Requirements:
- Experience in working with families, managing parenting issues and handling complex child welfare cases
- Trauma-informed and knowledge of attachment issues will be an advantage
- Good report writing skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in vernacular languages is preferred as you will be meeting clients from different races
- Able to plan your tasks independently and open to learning
- Responsible, resilient, flexible, self-motivated, and a team player
- Able to work on weekends and evenings, when required (Time-off will be given)
Qualifications:
- Degree or graduate diploma in social work or equivalent
- At least 2 years of work experience with family and children, or at least 4 years of work experience in the social service sector.
