The Shipping Operations Manager is responsible for verifying and keeping records on all incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment, also for daily planning and execution of the assigned vessel voyages for ADNOC Global Trading (AGT).
Job Specific Accountabilities
Operational
- Ensure daily follow-up on shipping operations and prospects.
- Prepare vessel nominations, optimize bunker procurement, monitor speed and fuel consumption during voyage to enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide post-fixture support to vessels, voyage instructions and ensures conformance to charter party agreements.
- Arrange for freight/hire/demurrage collection from charterers, outlays all necessary funds for running the fleet and organize for bunkers.
- Conduct in-depth analysis and assessment of shipping data (TC, COA etc)
- Coordinate between the owners of the vessels, the charterers, and all third parties involved with the ships (Ship agents, ship-chandlers, bunkering suppliers etc.).
Reporting
- Report on bunkers requirements and arrange replenishment in accordance with standing instructions.
- Ensure all required instructions pertaining to the shipping documents (e.g. Bills of Lading, Manifests, Mate's Receipts etc.) are made in due time.
- Analyse/compute demurrage, detention and dead-freight for the assigned voyages.
- Ensure the voyage tracker is updated with relevant details and costs (e.g.. port, cargo and bunkers).
- Frequent contacts with AGT customers/clients, government bodies (customs, tax department etc.).
Other Duties
- Keeping customers updated and up to date tendering notices as per agreed terms.
- Coordinate with Traders and Trade Operations regarding sourcing/placing molecules, overall trading strategies, filing nominations for upcoming loading operations, highlight deviations from contractual quantity/grade, and any scheduling specific issues.
- Supervises cargo handling, port activities, pilotage, towage, wharfage, dockage, canal transits, conveying of cargoes and cargo handling arrangements.
- Intimate all vital pricing related information to middle office on real-time basis for review of any hedging activity that has already been performed.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualification
- Post-Grad degree (MA/MSc) preferable (not essential) in Economics/Econometrics/Statistics/Business Analytics.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
- 7+ years work experience (preferably in leading shipping/chartering companies OR shipping/chartering function in the energy industry)
- Industry knowledge (preferred) - specific experience with/understanding of key drivers, economics, and management practices of integrated shipping industry
- Commodities Trading knowledge (preferred) - keeps up to date with international events and geo- political climate
