Job Title: Ship Manager (Shore‑Based) - Singapore

Full‑time | Maritime | Technical Management

About the Company

A leading international shipowner and operator with a sizeable fleet of modern gas carriers is seeking an experienced Ship Manager to join their technical team in Singapore. The company operates globally across major trade routes and employs a diverse team of seafarers and shore‑based professionals committed to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Role Overview

The Ship Manager will be responsible for the full technical and operational oversight of a group of vessels. This shore‑based role requires a strong engineering background, hands‑on sailing experience, and the ability to ensure vessels operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with international maritime standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day‑to‑day technical and operational performance of assigned vessels, including maintenance, repairs, and overall vessel condition.
  • Maintain tight control over operating budgets, prepare annual budgets, and provide regular financial reporting.
  • Ensure vessels certification, surveys, and inspections are planned, executed, and completed on schedule.
  • Lead the planning, specification, and execution of drydockings, including cost forecasting, negotiation, and completion of repair activities.
  • Conduct regular management inspections, identify gaps, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review technical reports, equipment performance data, and onboard record‑keeping to ensure compliance with international regulations and internal standards.
  • Liaise with classification societies, vendors, charterers, and other stakeholders to support safe and efficient vessel operations.
  • Promote and uphold safe, environmentally responsible, and cost‑effective vessel management practices.
  • Mentor and train senior officers and crew, conduct appraisals, and recommend development or career‑progression actions.
  • Interview engine officers for selection or promotion as required.
  • Participate in incident/accident investigations when assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Valid Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (unlimited).
  • Recent sea‑going experience on LPG carriers (fully pressurised, semi‑ref, or refrigerated).
  • Experience sailing on MAN B&W ME‑type engines strongly preferred.
  • Recent exposure to Ethylene / Ethane carriers is advantageous.
  • Comfortable with a digital work environment and structured technical processes.
  • No prior shore‑based experience required - strong seagoing background is valued.
  • Ability to travel at short notice and manage occasional 24/7 operational needs.
  • Strong understanding of international maritime regulations, classification rules, and vessel management best practices.
  • Highly organised, responsible, and able to work independently while supporting broader team objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage cross‑functional relationships in a fast‑paced environment.
